Here are some easy-to-make, traditional seafood recipes for you to try. Over time, we will be adding more Arabic recipes in this section.

KINGFISH STEAKS
You will need
6 slices of Kingfish, about 1/2" thick
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1-1/2 teaspoon fish masala powder (available in stores)
1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
You will have to: Mix the seasonings and rub well into both sides of the steaks. Cover and marinate for 30-40 minutes. Fry the steaks in hot oil, about 5 minutes each side.
Cooking time: Approx. 1 hour
Serves: Six
PRAWNS IN TOMATO SAUCE
You will need
1 kg fresh prawns, shelled and de-veined
2 cups chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup green capsicum, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon prawn masala powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
3 tablespoons tomato paste
3 tablespoons oil
You will have to: Put the prawns, tomatoes and capsicum into a covered saucepan and boil for about 10 minutes.
Add the salt, prawn masala, turmeric, tomato paste and oil. Decrease heat and simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes. Serve with rice.
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Serves: Six
BAKED WHOLE SHARI (WITH MASALA STUFFING)
You will need
3 Shari fish, cleaned
Fish masala powder
Garlic powder
Turmeric powder
Black pepper
Salt
Red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chopped onion
1 minced garlic clove
1 minced small green chili
1 tsp dried lime powder
1/2 cup fresh dill
Oil
1-2 tomatoes, sliced
You will have to: Sprinkle the fish with the fish masala, garlic powder, turmeric, pepper, salt, red chili powder and rub well into the skin.
Mix the masala stuffing ingredients together and fill the stomach cavities.
Place the fish on a rack in a shallow baking pan, drizzle with oil and put into the oven at 140 degrees.
After 30 minutes cover the fish with tomato slices and increase the temperature to 190 degrees for a further 30 minutes.
To finish, brown the fish under the grill for a few minutes.
Cooking time: 1 hour 15 minutes
